Yurts

In my barn in the Beautiful Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania I was faced with a need for a warm room.  At that time I had neither the time nor the money to build to build a heated room.  The solution was a yurt. From Borealis Yurt of Maine.  This was delivered in New Jersey and I was able to place the entire thing in the back of my Ford Ranger. With the help of a friend we were able to erect the entire thing in less than a day.  We did have to learn an entire new vocabulary including "pentamabob, clevis and fishlips".  Subsequently, I have taken the yurt apart and reassembles it in another part of the barn with the help of my son.

It is a slim claim to fame that I am one of very few people in the world who has built and used a coracle and erected a yurt.

My own yurt is from Borealis yurts (which is unfortunately now out of business)  This is 10 feet in diameter and insulated with space age insulation.  The orange and white cloth draped over the yurt (I have swallows in the barn) is a World War II parachute that my mother-in law made into tents.  The material is finally falling apart but still provides protection from barn swallows.
